MATT PRICE

Riding three comedy horses at the same time is never easy; Cornish-born, Cardiff-based Matt Price makes it look effortless. He can be affable compere, stand-up comic or storyteller, depending on the circumstances … often all three at the same time. He is resident compere at the Phoenix Comedy Club in Cardiff and can often be found at small gigs trying out new material. More comfortable on stage than anywhere else, Matt’s unique approach to comedy – he’s been known to do most of his show whilst standing in the middle of the audience, rather than on stage – and his engaging, absorbing tales have made him one of British comedy’s best-kept secrets.

Matt has gigged in front of Ex-pat audiences in Germany, Switzerland and Dubai. He has also performed at Broadmoor Maximum Security Hospital, “Monster laughs” (The Sun) – an experience, which went a long way to forming his well received 2009 debut Edinburgh solo show, “My Girlfriend was attacked…”

In 2009, Matt also hosted the sold out late night show at the Tron in Edinburgh, F*cking Funny for a Fiver, where he furthered his reputation as a strong, reliable and very funny MC – “This late night gig is a real gem of Stand up comedy in Edinburgh.” (Four Stars, Three Weeks.)

In 2008, Matt hosted the popular show ‘South By South Wales’, showcasing the best of new Welsh comedy talent at the Gilded Balloon.

Rory O’Hanlon is a Dublin-based stand up comedian who first started performing stand up in 2006. In this short period of time he has performed at all the major comedy venues in Dublin, such as the International, the Comedy Cellar , the Laughter Lounge and more.

After the raging success of SHOCK WAVES @ Texploitation, we’d love to invite all you filthy gorehounds back to TEXPLOITATION for another night of titilation and terror!

This time we’re upping the ante and will be blowing the splatter levels through the roof with the one, the only GODFATHER OF GORE, HG Lewis’ 1963 seminal, influential and downright goddang NASTY aria of atrocities, BLOOD FEAST!

Not only will we be screening this classic from the terrible twosome, director Herschell Gordon Lewis and exploitation maestro producer, David F. Friedman, but we will once again have a smorgasbord of PRIZES, LAUGHS, TRAILERS, and of course our smash hit FREEDOM CORN, as well as all sorts of other GENUINE TEXAN NIBBLES!

February at Voicebox is as packed as ever, and this month sees your usual host step down and have RUAIDHRÍ WARD make his debut MC performance.

“Enda began comedy over four years ago in a bid to deal with deep seated childhood psycholgical trauma. This badly thought out attempt at purging his demons in public proved not only to be unsuccessful, but has involved many of his shows ending with his admission to a psychiatric unit. Not strictly a comedian, watching Enda perform is a dark view at the fragility of the human psyche. The fact that anyone would give him a microphone, is proof in itself that the collapse of society is imminent.
